First real Fieldcore recording
Today I undertook my first attempt to do a real Fieldcore recording. For me the biggest difference with my ordinary working method is that I couldn’t use my diesel powered van. So I took off on my bike. The first thing that became clear riding my bike is that this is a way more effective way to mentally prepare myself to do a recording. The smooth transition in audible landscape makes you way more aware of your surroundings. Normally I am in my car listening to the radio. I drive to a point I looked up on my computer. Most of the time these locations do not live up to my expectations from a audible point of view. Also to sudden transtion makes that my ears are not opened up the same way I noticed today during my ride on the bike.
I tought I checked my equipment enough before leaving home, but none the less one of my piezobuffers refused to work. Also one of my Schoeps mics started to generate some strange noise effect. Moist? Last few weeks I tried not to use the windjammer as often as I was used to. Maybe the humidity of this season plays a bigger role when I leave out the windjammer.
So after all not a very productive recording session but for sure a pleasant experience.

Hello Olivier,
I suggest you to switch from city bike to MTB when you go to have another fieldcore recording. I myself do not have a car, but love to ride 50-70 km away from the city and stand up my mic there.
I think to go out to nature by car is something I would never called as a “green” attitude, not to mention, that you probably will never detect, explore, feel, capture Nature and its creatures from a car window.
Thank you for your post.
All the best,
